LOL, just purchased a Nokia E6-00 It will be my day to day phone from now on. I will give you a full review in a couple of days (just kidding). It is not a perfect form factor for me, but I will give it a try, there is so much other positive things about it.

My N900 is OLD, I have had it for 1 1/2 year, it has worked as a charm all that time both as phone and as internet tablet (with some adjustments the first months due to re-booting). I have had it with me in many a country and has done its things perfectly, but now it needs to rest. So for me, this device really has done its job as intended.

I need buttons and HW keyboard, can't live without them, not on a day to day phone. But it leaves the N900 free to install MeeGo and stuff on the phone itself without being afraid of loosing all my contacts, looking forward to that. And of course Bada 2.0 on my Wave.

This means of course that I will not really leave (sorry guys ), but my Maemo days on a day to day phone is definitely over. Unless Elop is sacked or resigns, I don't see that MeeGo/maemo will ever come back. I only hope that the Nokia board tells Elop that enough is enough, and that they do it soon. In that case I will be the first to purchase a N9-02 with HW keyboard and U8500.

Shouldn't you rename your thread bye maemo hello meego anyway, if you are going to install the latter on your phone?

I have no idea how to rename a thread. Besides, this thread is by very definition boring, so why bother.

I also feel it is a downgrade in many respects, but functionality wise it is an upgrade. Anyway I always have my N900 to fall back to if I should go bananas. It mainly depends on the screen.

I think that Symbian is many times treated too harshly. Sure there's not enough software for it, but it works very well. I've used E71 at work small periods of time for a couple of years and it's been very good for the job. And people calling E-series dumb phones are either joking or don't know what they are talking about.

Personally N900 has never been the only phone that I use. I also have Nokia N82 which is still my main phone that I use for talking and listening to music, since I can control the player with my Nokia headset. N900 is nowadays basically my home stereo (since I managed to destroy my Terratec Noxon), and at work I use it to listen to radio streams and surf the net + chatting. I also have a cheap Android-phone (ZTE Blade) but for some reason I don't really like Android at the moment at all. It's just messy and not very logical to use.
