What they could do is sell the N9 and the N950 then you would test the market for 2 differents need
Nokia also makes the E6 (my new toy) and E7, both have keyboards The N9 is much easier and cheaper to produce, and if that form factor is what most people want, it really is a no brainer. One of the first WP phones will have keyboard I have heard

The Nordic countries won't get a Nokia WP phone until maybe a year from now. England, France, Germany, Spain and The Netherlands will get WP phones in October/November. The Nordic and a few other places (Switzerland, Austria most likely) gets the N9 first , and we will have to "manage" with that until next summer. I wonder about the US, it will probably get WP? Seems to me that the N9 is more popular in the US, at least in the tech news, while WP+Nokia seems to be very welcomed over here.

Anyway, keyboard. I definitely prefer keyboard, I hoped the N9 had it, but when most people will have no keyboard, then the chances for the N9 being a smash hit increases, and Nokia will have to rethink, so no keyboard on the N9 is best.

    Yes.

When the French president tried to put his son as manager of la Defence (business district of Paris) after giving a speech about equality of chances and non-nepotism, it is alleged that the following petition (and the buzz around) made him rethink his decision.
    some details

Obviously I agree this is way more the exception than the rule, and we are talking about politics, not business.

the point is not the sucess of a petition, but this sort of speaking out does help. You just need to keep up the noise, if it generates just one more article about the n950 and the whole developer only debacle then it helps in its own small way.

ofcourse alot of companies wont invest millions in hardware, tooling etc based on 100 people whining about a device not being available, but if you can keep making noise and encourage others to do the same, their marketing crew will pick up on it and it looks like theyre missing a trick/easy buck then you might get lucky.

(the real problem would be that if all of the fuss works, they still have to sort out the rumoured keyboard hinge problems before release... so the odds are well stacked against you)

dont get me wrong, id be extatic to see the n950 find its way to retail, just not entirely likely

Sometimes I think the N900 platform only has a chance in the future if some other company starts making the hardware... are we a too small group of users and releasing a phone that is ready does not pay the costs?

I really can't understand it... they have the hardware ready, why not just open an online form for selling it? Does it cost so much for Nokia?

If Android was as open as maemo, I would care to work on a port of maemo or meego to an android device. There are tons of hardware options.

Nokia used 2010 technology on N9 and you want 2012 , nice wishlist but this will never happen to nokia , they are already going backwards .
