ok i c these are the two options

and option 2 : will make me post only one patch no alternative

with option 1 : i will have to post two patches (becuase some users will not be able to apply the default one
    only alternative

i prefer simplicity and the best quality.jst make it simple and faster and make N900 save battery.dat will do....i just love this thread

    Here is My log:

    First patch :
was made to work on both N900 and Desktop PC
and it is just the one after doing
    rm /home/user/.profile
    mv /root/.porfile.bak /root/.profile

Second patch : it is just like the first one
but only adds some lines to rc.local
(THE ONE THAT SOME MEMBERS REPORTED IS THE BEST ONE)

Third patch : was recreated by thingonnaspring
changes the second patch from 60 - 100 lines into 10 -15 lines
    and added lines to /home/user/.profile
BUT it only works on N900 NOT the Desktop PC

Forth patch : adds values suggested by epitaph (Many times)
But it ruined the ram and battery

Fifths patch (The current one): Removed the values suggested by epitaph
    and adds lines to /root/.profile

    Bottom line :

I think that adding lines to /home/user/.profile and /root/.profile
    will decrease the performance

the patch recreated by thingonnaspring causes troubles for beginers
so added the patch-ALTERNATIVE.tar.gz wich solves the problem

    SOOOOOOOOOO:

    what do you guys suggest

    1-) put thingonnaspring recreated patch + patch-alternative.tar.gz
but remove the /home/user/.profile (wich gives better performance)
this will make the patch works only on N900 not Desktop PC
and it will also make 2 patches
so users may get confused (as i saw in earlier posts)

2-)put the Second patch mentioned in log
and remove /home/user/.profile (wich will give better performance)
this will work on N900 and Desktop PC
and will be easy for begineers (they will not be confused)

    IMO i think option 2
because it will be a simple file
it will get activated in 3 lines
there will not be an alternative patch
it will not cause troubles to beginer users
it will give the best performance (also option 1 does)

    i don't prefer option1 :
    because
there will be 2 patches (default one and the alternative)
    users may get confused
noob users will have to use alternative

So what do you think guys ?
    i need a vote
so i know what to do

i just reinstalled your new patch but still get the same errors.

Yeah i removed the patch all together, too many problems, I'll wait for the option 2 patch and install that one

    BENCHMARK
The simplest way to see how the patch effect
is to open browser windows about 8 before applying the patch
and 8 after applying the patch
you will notice a huge improvement

post number 5 in page number 1

    http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...99&postcount=5

please test it and tell me the result back
(if it is better than the patch in post 1)

    Cheers

Why won't you just make an install.sh and put the alternate howto in it? Then it would be fewer steps..

    1. tar xzvf speedpatch-ALTERNATIVE.tar.gz
    2. cd speedpatch
    3. chmod +x install.sh
    4. ./install.sh

You could also include case so it would be "./install -i" for install and "./install -u" for uninstall.

    i actually thought of that
But i don't have time to rewirte or test anything
all the files are made a month ago

    PS: i don't have My N900 Now

If you want you can help and write a one
    it will be better

what if you want to use a different transition or keep the one you have, i have left the transition line out of the codes so i can keep the one i prefer.
