I believe once someone shares a stream content, and you the recipients' email is gmail ... you just go to the google+ site:

plus.google.com

The you just sign in and it ties your account with your Google account. I'm not sure if you are coming from hotmail or yahoo, others can chim in on that.

EDIT: For me it was instant, ddwwf1 got the PM and I had signed up about 30 minutes to 1 hour afterwards ... wasn't really a long time for me.

I think if you have a gmail account and are signed in on another tab, then going to:

plus.google.com

shows up as a simple sign up form and voila you join up. I think the hotmails and yahoo's require the longer wait times.

Edit: Just to clarify as to why it may take longer is because in the case of hotmail or yahoo you are waiting for an invite email.

I shared a stream, can you check:

plus.google.com and see if the landing page has a sign up sheet. Make sure you are signed to the gmail service.

Also randomdood, apparently the profile are general google account profiles ... it wouldn't mean you are a member. Although have you tried a different browser, I use Chrome it may make the difference? Also try to sign out and back in if haven't tried so far.

just visited plus.google.com via chrome browser and it said sign in pressed button next page came up asking for password, entered password and that keep me posted box came up.but looking at the initial screen i've already joined?
