The ignore button is for people who are consistently negative and bring nothing new to the conversation. The only failing to that is frequently people on the ignore list get quoted in other's posts so you still have to meander through the swamp. I've got three people on my list and it has improved my enjoyment of this forum immeasurably.

As for the customer support figures, i would also be very interested in that. Then again, and i suspect this applies to other people rather than you, the N800 came out a fair while ago so who's to say that things haven't changed? I had my aboe incident only about 6 weeks ago for instance.
I can't help that every post seems negative (I would tend to agree with your assessment, at least over the last year or more) since there hasn't been much positive coming out of Nokia to comment about. I don't dislike where Nokia had been, but I do dislike where they are and probably where they're going--which is why I pointed out that I might end up even leaving this forum eventually when all hope is pretty much extinguished, but for my own interest and for those around me, I will poke around the Nokia forums to see if anything pops up that I can pass on to them as great news or helpful for them. I'm not impressed so far and neither are they. I'll still pop in to share my opinion so long as that's still okay, even if the haters would rather have their Utopian vision du jour unobscured by differing opinions. I, for one, like popping into other forums (Android, Apple, Nokia and otherwise). I'm not sure why that's a bad thing--I would think that makes one more receptive to hearing good (and bad) ideas and news from all over the place.

Well, you also have to remember that a majority of the people I work with, customers, family and friends, purchased N800's along with me because they loved what I had and wanted to do the same things. They were MOSTLY happy until, like me, they also ran into problems that Nokia refused to fix or support them on. Little by little, they all replaced their devices with mostly Apple iOS or Android devices and it's very difficult for them to consider moving back to Nokia after all of our shared experiences, especially after talking amongst ourselves. I've not had a whole lot of good news for them, and the news for Nokia is that it seems more and more customers are sharing that same experience so their market share continues to drop.

I would LOVE to see Nokia ask customers for their opinions and to share their experiences, or ask anyone that USED to have a Nokia why they switched and ask them what would make them consider purchasing a Nokia product again in the future. Elop doesn't instill confidence in that type of customer service interest, however.

Clearly somebody that doesn't value diversity of opinion, as I pointed out. But there is sage advice in there--if you don't like it, just ignore it. Put on the blinders and live in blissful ignorance.

Well i didn`t intend for my post to be so negative and i wouldn`t know what else to buy cos i love maemo and how open it is and i just can`t find myself with android or apple`s products, i guess every manufacturer has problems and maybe i`m one of the less fortunate customers but they should really really improve on customer support, since i got my n900 and brought it in nokia care nokia sent me back 3 new phones and repaired one even if one of them had dead pixels and the keyboard didn`t close so good, but what i am saying is they should at least extend your warranty and not just with the days the phone is away from the customer...they should even add extra warranty for your discomfort for your having to stay without the phone that doesen`t work as it was intended to work, well anyway i`m still looking forward for the n9 even if to me it doesen`t seem my ideal phone but it does seems the closest on the market to it, in the end i`m in love with nokia products but if anyone else would make products like nokia i definetley would buy it rather then buying nokia

I agree with Nokia's recent escapades. Since the moment it was anounced until the present day i have no idea why Maemo 5 was not further developed. My opinion from 2009 has been get Maemo 5 to a more complete state, put it on more devices, had it at the high end. Then when MeeGo is ready make the transition. It never made sense to me to have underdeveloped OSs all the time because that won't help customer confidence. It also would have avoided this WP7 debacle. And frankly the N9 and all the positive praise has me wondering once again why WP7 was chosen over in-house software. And why is Symbian Anna still not out? So yes, there is much bad to be said about Nokia and I am happy to acknowledge it, i certainly don't think i'm one of the fanboys with blinkers on.

When it comes to customer service, i have heard a lot of bad so was nervous to send my phone off but it was a very pleasant experience, so maybe things have changed somewhat. As I said, the N800 was quite some time ago now.

As for leaving Nokia, more than anything what keeps me with them is the hardware quality, camera quality, and that the software all seems to offer more options and functionality than the competition. If, though, the next update of WP7 doesn't fix the major shortcomings i will have no choice but to get the N9. And if that isn't an option, i'll pretty much be forced to Android.

you will need your reference number. i did my repair online so they sent it as en email. this is i think 4th time now for the same o usb port situation.

this 1 managed to last a lot longer as i took extra care with it. the worst thing is no usb port cant charge = cant connect usb so could back anything up.

everytime this has happened they just send my a brand new phone.

BUT i am due an upgrade and at the moment there is no other phone better than my n900 with a keyboard

Why don't you just backup to the memory card? this will save sms, contacts, calendar, apps etc.
