strange :$
searched wiki but all i found was phone automatically rebooting and bla bla bla .
but my problem is different :$
i have reboot button in power key drop down menu which doesn't reboot my phone but just shuts down or some times shows nothing after those loading dots.
tried rebooting via xterminal , it doesn't work either :$
tried with the third option too "smscon editor" sent reboot text and it is still the same

I have the same problem on my n900, and as far as I know it's a known problem with power-kernel*. I've got used to just powering-off, then on.
* I might be completely and utterly wrong - my brain cell isn't what it once was
