OMAP3 chips already have DRM support in them, you don't need separate one for it. I guess I need to read through the spec sheets...

Well the OMAP documentation mentios "e-fuses" that can be used to store cryptography keys on the hardware itself. But I also got the impression that they can only be read in the secure mode, so I don't understand why would the keys be destroyed when changing into the open mode... But then again the docs I read didn't go to specifics.
And is the flash binary necessarily even encrypted/protected?

umm... you do realize that was a hypothetical scenario, right?
as in, "if we had flash on the N9 it would be signed and couldn't be tweaked by tweakflash..."

since there won't be any flash on the N9, this discussion is moot.

btw, i don't know anything about e-fuses, but deleting certificates (or providing a way to delete them during the switch to open mode) is trivial. no certificates -> no DRM -> no going back.

Yes, everything is pretty much guessing about the DRM/open mode. Although it sounds pretty damn annoying if you completely lose all possible access to paid software if you switch to Developer/Open mode...
And as said in this post by Jolo, they already have working Flash on N9 with Fennec, only thing that might stop it is certification/money. And if it comes as separate "app" through Ovi Store, it probably will be protected...

Agreed, pretty damn lame if true...
DRM in iOS devices isn't as deep-seated, so why would a maemo/meego one be?

    Exactly.
It's still "up in the air" whether there'll be flash or not.
Certainly not 100% ruled-out yet, according to Jolo.

    not like it will matter.

it will be jail break/CFWS within weeks.

iOS gets jailbroken even before released (in beta).
