how can I prevent applications from looking into my adressbook?
fennec reads it
(hit an "enter email field" on any website)

Are you sure it's the address book being scanned or just the regular form completion throwing up previously entered values for the same html element name?

Technically there is nothing you could do to stop any developer from adding code to scan your address book, though I'm pretty sure fennec doesn't do that anyway.

No fennec does not scan your email addresses but the fennec.exe could well become infected with malware so if your noticing any strange behaviour then best to connect your N900 in mass storage mode and run your pc anti malware scanner when you have connected it via usb for any infections.

Not sure if there is anything even close to attack the N900 but you just never know so always best to do a scan now and then.

it aint previously entered values. Haven't scanned the device for malware jet, as it's a almost new device - will try it though and post the results

  1. Mounting your N900 to PC only lets you scan the MyDocs partition
  2. Windows virus scanners only find windows viruses
  3. Its highly unlikely that you have malware on your phone
