On 20/07/2011 my beloved nokia n900 got switched off and never woke up again.
i gave to to customer care india they said that my phone will get repaired and u will get it in 12 days.
today 1/08/2011 they called me up in the morning and said that your phone has been repaired and u can collect it.
i went to collect the phone and wht i saw a shock they gave me a n8 (***** phone, ***** symbain,***** nokia). i told them that my phone was n900 and not n8 ,
so they told me that your phone could not get repaired and nokia has stopped producing n900 anymore.

Please help me guys with this matter. What should i do. I felt like crying when they gave me that ***** phone.(n8). please guide me out.
I have also given them a written letter telling them that i wont accept n8 , and if they dont provide me with n900 they have to return my money and if they dont do that also then they will have to face legal actions.

    What else should i do?

Tell them N8 is not good enough a replacement for the N900. Try to get them to give you something more modern, i.e. E7.

Sell E7 as NEW, buy another N900.

This is old news with Nokia care replacing your N900 with either a N8 or E7.

There isn't much you can do, you can try putting them through the court but I doubt you can get another N900 if your old N900 was out of warranty). I also doubt you may get your money back for N900, though I think a fair few of us proud N900 owners whom have had our devices replaced with either N8 or E7 decided to either hang on to them or sell it to buy another N900. Either brand new (I personally think there is a shortage of brand new N900) or second hand (and working properly of course) N900.

I believe there was someine in the European region whom was not happy with either N8 or E7 as replacement device (he basically complained that the device did not fulfil his requirements). He might be waiting and hoping for either N900 or N9 to show up as replacement. That might be another option you might want to try.

i told them the same thing. but they are said that after deprecting your n900 we can offer you only n8. then i get very angry and gave them the written letter. and they are not giving that n8 in box also. its open . no accessories also. i think they have reapired it and are giving it to me.

Uh, no chance. N9 doesn't even exist yet. If your N900 is still in warranty I think you have a case to try and get an E7.

As for them trying to give you a second hand N8, no chance. Sounds like they are trying to scam you.

I personally wouldn't be too hopeful in getting N9 however though really for now selling whatever symbian device you got for another N900 sourced elsewhere might be ideal.

As for me, if my N900 dies I wouldn't hand it in to nokia care to complain and wait for either N900 or N9 to appear. Obtaining a second hand N900 as a result maybe risky if it were for instance have had been abused by its previous owner. Thankfully I do have another N900 which I can use in case my old N900 dies (That implies I currently own two N900 and unfortunately my spare N900 isn't exactly new).

Right now I guess it would be a good idea to source another N900 if possible before they really become scarce.

Ask for a cash refund if they're not able to provide a suitable alternative (IMHO there is not alternative to the N900).

i am getting a n900 at cheap price but i am will for the reply from nokia care. if they are willing to repair my n900 .
According to me who ever gives nokia care n900 they are provding replacement to it coz they want all the n900 to be back in nokia.
So i think that my is phone is still reapiriable and i have to chance to get it back.
Bbecause when i gave it it was showing orange light when plugged into charger.
