Getting a Bluetooth Connection to my PC Proving Impossible

I've spent the better part of today working on this. I suspect that part of the problem is that I am new to the N900 and Linux. I just got a replacement Bluetooth dongle (broke my old one trying some flashing nonsense) today and it works just fine with my Nokia 8800, but my N900 will only connect long enough to pair with Windows (Win7 x64 by the way).

After a lot of fiddling I think the problem is that I don't have bluez installed on the phone. However, when I try to install bluez-utils from extras-devel it says that It is an incompatible package. Am I barking up the wrong tree here, or is there some secret Linux magic that solves the problem which I have not yet encountered.

    Thanks

EDIT: To clarify, I've only had this thing for about 2 weeks and hadn't used the Bluetooth at all until today.

EDIT 2: I had the genius idea to test with my windows XP netbook and it worked fine. So now I have no smegging idea what's going on here.

Of course it is possible. N900 was one of the few mobile phone having bluetooth PAN profile (now it is very common).

You may refer to my sig. about bluetooth PAN for reference.
