    Hi there ppl!
I have a little problem messaging skype contacts from my n900..using latest firmware. It`s about 3 weeks that when i try to send IM a message appears: Message sending failed.
I didn`t install any packages but hildon-desktop portrait mode from cssu.Itried to delate the account on my phone and then re-set it again but nothing changed.
It`s strange that i have about 20 skype contacts and i realy can send IM to about 3-4 of them.Else the error appears.

Any ideas what`s going on and how to fix it?

    for what it's worth (!)
i noticed since a few days that updates are sluggish to come in (or not @ all) when in 2G network mode.
did you try this with Wi-Fi?
(i usually get all the messages when i connect to Wi-Fi, even though in disorder 1st, they end up in the proper order when the conversation is closed & open anew)

    apologizes, missed your update

if this is the case, it is possible that your message database is corrupt.
an easy way to fix this is by
    • start backup
    • tap on New backup
i put all my backups on the mSDHC, but that's up to you
      • tap on the Location bar
      • tap on your mSDHC card
    • tap on Proceed
    • tap on Select

once the backup is complete, restore it

I am currently having the same problem. It is intermittent though...can be sending im's fine and the all of a sudden get this message. I usually have to disable of skype and enable again (sometimes more than once) before I can send again. Apart from enabling/disabling skype the frustration lies in having to type a really long message all over again....

....so the question is, can you please further elaborate on how you resolved this by the above?

    Cheers.

    Long live n900!

My n900 has also has had intermittent problems with skype "Message Sending Failed" and it is an intermittent problem.

I just reset my skype on my phone by:
    1. Turning Off Skype
    2. Deleting My Skype Account
    3. Removing Skype files in terminal with:
    mv .Skype .Skype.YYYY-MM-DD
4 Resetting up my skype account

I have done this in the past when skype wasn't working at all so I hope to not get the "Message Sending Failed" message again.

Not sure how the skype setup gets corrupted in the first place.
    - Power Issues? (Lithium Ion Batteries are only good for 2-3 years)
    - Bad internet connection?
    - Bad software?
