try:
osso-addressbook-backup --export=/media/mmc1/contactesmeus.txt

run as user

i just tested it , the above command should work, you can open that txt file and read it.

what should do is reboot the phone and give couple mins to load then
open xterm with ctrl+shift+x then type:

osso-addressbook-backup --export=/media/mmc1/contacts.txt

then pull out the memory card and put in your computer then open the contacts.txt with notepad or wordpad, you should be able to find the contact number in there. Let me know if it work.

ok just tried it and nothing happened, no contacts.txt in the memory card. how do i run as user? do i need the ssh thing installed?

try a couple times to make sure since you're blindly typing thing, it could be wrong. If you still got nothing then, your phone probably didn't even works at all or freeze since hardware is not working in this case the touch screen.

No you don't have to install anything. just follow the exact step above. (if you don't type root in xterm you're running as user)

May want to try "sudo gainroot" instead of root, also.

Try removing battery for a couple of minutes and give it a try again... Try both the combinations (slider open/close) while boot..
Hope u'l get your Screen workin...

what about the date/time thing popping up when battery has been taken out, will that interfeer with xterm?

yes, but their might be a chance that your display will start working again...

also you should check your PC suite(without connecting N900) their could be a backup of your Contacts

why dont you try dissamble your device & take a look at the main ribbons...it might been damages at some points...if it does then replace the main ribbons to fixed your problem....dissambling your device is easy...you can search at youtube how to dissamble it....
