    Dell surprised me too.
Status changed to "shipped" last night and arrived this morning. I saw the purolator truck and i said to the guy "no....no way it's that fast"

been playing with it all day.

UI takes some getting use to as with all UIs.
Screen is nice and crisp just as i expected.
Sound quality is way better than i expected.

only complaint i have is that some pages don't load very well. layouts become disorganized on some and very laggy on some.

not gonna make the switch to os2008 yet. gonna wait till i get sick of os2007

    Some thoughts:
    - screen is excellent, far better than any I have used in the winMobile world
    - Form factor is great. Nice useable size, The stand is very handy.
    - Flashing from XP (ok, I know, I know, but until there are Unix versions of the software I NEED to run, thats what I run (and don't tell me about WINE, no joy there) to OS2008 was painless. Hardest thing was getting fat fingers to hit the correct keypress timing to gey the USB prompt.
    - Battery life so far, is extremely good. Better than the WinMobile devices I have owned, not as good as my Newtons
    - web application/repo install sucks, mostly from the server side.
Nokia really needs to look at the infrastructure behind this.
Too many retries needed for sucess, too many server side connection issues. This needs to be fixed, it really makes the device look bad. Too many failed catalog refreshes.
    - FbReader is a must have app, I've started converting all my e-books over to html.
    - Video converted with the Nokia converter works very well. I converted some episodes of Fred Dibnah from DVD, and they play
VERY well, just as nice, if not better, than on my daughters Ipod.
    - This thing needs a nice case with screen protection,as well as a good screen protector. Time to search around.
    - The earbuds are painful. I'll have to see if my Koss work.(I don't need the mike). It would be nice to listen to Sirius in the liveing room, simply by turning on the Sirius radios FM transmitter function. (the Sirius reciver is hooked up into our stereo system, as broadcast radio up here sucks)
    - Wireless connectivity is excellent, config was painless.
    - Found the internal SD slot a bit finicky, but it works.
Looking forward to the release of the final version of OS2008..

    Thats it for now..
    Cheers
    Harold

My screen has the classic uneven darker backlighting on the right hand side. How about yours?

I can see the backlight LED pattern on the right side, but its not a big deal. My old Ipag 3970 was worse..

Thanks Dell. Sold my 770 and got my 800 today. So glad I did the upgrade. 800 is much faster, and having flash rocks.

My poor Palm Tx, is collecting dust!
Used to tinker on it for good fun, but this new N800 with OS2008 is just captivating.
...even swiped the 4g SD from the ol TX!

I miss the somewhat fancier and crisper OS2007 look though, but heh, translucency is very nice in OS2008 as well as the faster feel of the system.

I checked today for mine that I got from Dells Days of Christmas. They say it should come from their supplier on Dec 22nd. So little chance of me getting mine before Christmas. Only slight bonus is that I have that whole week off, so can only hope it will ship just after so I can play with it for a few days. Maybe I will get one that already has OS2008 on it.
