i have already added my hotmail and g-mail accounts but i want to add my live email - if i choose 'other' during account setup, then there is this extra step with incoming server outgoing server and i have no idea what to choose
i tried just going on with the setup with the default settings but it doesn't connect properly
any help?

Hi Sue T,

I found this info on live email. After you select 'other', the next screen where it says user name make sure to put your whole email address. If the information below is correct it should work. I had to do these similar steps when i setup my yahoo email account on my n900. Hopefully this helps.

•POP (incoming) server: pop3.live.com
•POP port: 995
•POP SSL required: yes
•POP user name: your complete Windows Live Hotmail address (including "@hotmail.com", "@live.com", etc.)
•POP password: your Windows Live Hotmail password

•SMTP (outgoing) server: smtp.live.com
•SMTP port: 25
•If you run into problems sending mail, try "587" for the SMTP port instead.
•SMTP SSL required: yes
•SMTP authentication: yes
•SMTP user name: your full Windows Live Hotmail email address
•SMTP password: your Windows Live Hotmail password

Note that free POP access is currently available to users in
•Australia
•Brazil
•Canada
•France
•Germany
•Italy
•Japan
•the Netherlands
•Spain
•the United States and
•the United Kingdom.

something's come up - all this time i've been receiving emails but i never tried to send one until today. It keeps failing when i try to send and i'm sure the problem is only from my live account. Does it have to do with the server settings? is there a way to fix it?

you need to edit the SMTP server

click on email so it shows inbox etc
click on bar at top (mines hotmail)
click edit account and scroll to the bottom and click 'edit SMTP servers'
edit the SMTP settings as DfLo1913 has posted above

Try using TLS for your SMTP settings instead of SSL.

Live and hotmail account does support exchange activesync protocol, you can set them via mfe and have push email capability.

Hi Sue T,

Are you trying to send the emails through wifi or 3g? Also did you try TSL in the STMP outgoing server as Wheelybird suggested? On the STMP outgoing user name and password did you put your complete email address and correct password? Did you leave connection specific SMTP Servers unchecked?
