I didnt bother flashing my firmware because I used the app manager to update the OS....so I went straight ahead to flashing the EMMC then i unplugged it without waiting for reboot so when i turned it on the phone was full of blocks (the thing that comes up when you dont have that font installed) everything from the icons to the letters!! all i see is blocks! help!

With the newer firmware, half the OS is moved over to eMMC on the first boot. If you reflash the eMMC without doing the firmware as well, you'll be missing half the OS files.

I'd advise flashing the eMMC again, then the rootfs firmware (without booting in between) - see the wiki for details.

You can probably get away with just reflashing the rootfs firmware, but it's as easy to do both really, and makes sure there aren't any issues.
