Nokia released an update for the N900 in October of last year. The N900 was not immediately abandoned, like you're trying to imply, Dan. In fact, it got more official updates than most android phones do. Some don't get any updates at all and the users get stuck on 1.6 or 2.1.

Well, Bada came much later than Android. So far Bada hasn't failed, it is gaining market shares each day, and it is only available for a few Samsung devices. But that is irrelevant. It is much cooler than Android, and that's a fact, that's what matters to me.

Probably, probably not, who cares. What we are discussing right now is death, and how death will find it's way, shape and form.

On the dpad, I was thinking it would be nice to have it on the left for use with games.

But there's so much more to support than just a free software update. I also want things I can PAY for if I wanted to. Why can't I even PAY for Nokia parts to fix things myself?? Why does Nokia REQUIRE that you're a licensed repair tech before you can even buy parts from them? Why is Nokia's support so much more frustrating to deal with than any other manufacturer? Even on free updates, Motorola has been incredibly good--the Motorola Droid was theri first REAL foray into Android and it's STILL been getting updates into this year and then the Motorola Xoom people are STILL running with the leading edge OS despite being the FIRST one out there running Honeycomb at all. It just seems like Nokia is the worst of the worst of them.

So yeah... N900 was almost immediately abandoned just like the N800 was when I bought it. It's all about support--not just software updates. For that matter--what about all those WONTFIXES, FIXED IN [next OS, you know the one that comes with the next device] and general lack of motivation from Nokia for the myriad of updates people even voted in droves for? What about the ones they even figured out how to patch but Nokia wouldn't support (i.e. QWERTY's fixes for the camera)? You can keep clutching to your security-blanket and defend their inactions, incommunication and frustrating discarding of support for end-users, but I'm increasingly glad I didn't waste my money again on Nokia. More and more every day, lately especially. More and more glad.

Look what will happen to the N9 owners dan so you will see it all over again just as you described it.

What makes me laugh is people never learn from past experiances, just as well really because Nokia would have been out of business a long time ago.

Same thing will happen with the N9 so sit back and watch the sparks flying ha.

Sadly, I suspect it'll be worse given its even more anemic release and the long, long stretch of time from announcements and demos to the time of sale. It's already not a hot, new item anymore in most peoples' minds.

LOL If you by "most people" mean the geeky side of geek then yes. But I assure you that is a very far stretch to even reach 1% of "people".

Hell, only a handful on this board have the slightest idea what Bada really is and the specs of the Wave III, and this board is far out on the extreme geek on the geekometer.
