backports for Fremantle from harmattan ( WIP ) - maemo.org

as the topic depicts itself,so do we stand a chance ? just didnt want to live curiousity .
Meego hardware /software adaptation to N900 has already been done though many might say thats not enough but still somewhere the work is going on for that (i wish stskeeps could confirm this ) .What about N9/N950 apps as if they could be available for N900 as well ? N900 welcomes Qt apps nicely .
So should we expect or NOT that some thing will embrace maemo5 again?
OH yes ,it is possible now and yeah we are gonna get some decent apps from meego now .

Most Harmattan community apps use QML and Qt Components, of which there's a port for Fremantle.

Now, if that port doesn't work properly, the official version could be installed when Qt 4.7.4 is released in the next CSSU update.

Qt Components are already available in extras-devel, so it should be possible to port Meego-Harmattan applications to the N900. The obstacles are:

1. You can't redistribute the graphics used in Meego-Harmattan.

2. There are some components that are specific to Meego-Harmattan, and are not available in Freemantle.

MAG commented on another thread that all components will be available following a future CSSU update, so that will make things easier. The only problem is that users will be required to have the CSSU installed to access the applications.

Probably today, if the connection in the dorm helps.

Umm, .ts files are for Qt apps, non of which are in the CSSU, gtk apps use .po files which are already there.

this is one great news ,i am thinking about the part '' COULD BE INSTALLED '' ,hope it works & works well .
i believe this will be a revival of N900 and ye every one will welcome a new feel on N900 .
between i have been told by some developers that n900 has some advantages over N950 .that makes me think i own a devil device ,nothing else could be better than N900 and this community .
waiting for next cssu ,desperately .

If Nokia and partners don't release all the shiny new N9 apps for N900, after preaching to all devs about doing exactly that for the past couple years, they'll be even more hated by us than ever before...
