I don't take any of this too seriously, and life will go on long after Maemo, MeeGo and the N9 have faded into obscurity. I can at least see things as they are, unlike some of the MeeGo fanatics.
Yep see your point entirely and likewise i could never take anything serious after the letdown of the N900.

@franchg , If i do not get any n9's? then i will save 20 people a hell of a lot of grief and hassle to put it bluntly but when you make a promise you do your very best to keep it and hence why i am attempting to get these rediculous devices with meego as an os, they are already outdated hardware wise and i have tried to tell them this but i guess they are diehards like jalyst and all need there heads examined in my opinion.

I have my serious side and this post is one of the rare moments you will get any sense out of me, as for the rest of this thread apart from the very few sain , the rest of you are just loonies wanting this stupid N9 .

My advice is forget this N9 and wait for the new dual core cpu's that will hit the market early next year, a MUCH better proposition if you ask me.

Nokia has screwed a LOT of people now and ALSO this community so why are you wasting your energy to be screwed once again is beyond my imagination but hey... you make your beds......

October 3 is the date when this competition starts so some are at least certain to get it on that date.

Also a lot of people enjoy their N900 a lot (I am one of them), so I wouldn't call maemo a fiasco.

I think their is a very good chance that I will be very happy with an N9, so I can imagine other people might be too (maybe marxian, and yourself also)

Why would you assume Maemo users would follow Nokia and switch to WP? I think a lot (most??) N900/maemo users chose the N900 because of the open/hackable nature of the device, not because it was a Nokia device. I don't think they are very much brand oriented, and I think in general they are more informed about the tech than the average smartphone customer. So I think it much more likely that maemo users would switch to a (jailbroken) iPhone or (rooted) Android device.
The question is if they will buy the N9 before they make the switch to iOS/Android.
I was going to call it a day on here today after the last post but i just had to reply to this.

Bernard i was and still am very much a lover of the N900 as dated as it is now, the community did fantastic considering Nokia pulled the mat from under us and even announced the end of support for this community, the "fiasco" i was reffering too was Nokia ending all support for Maemo.

Problem is most of the dev's have left us and only a few left like marxian who are willing for now to devote time and late nights even for meego.

I actually don't "assume" anything at all and i certainly do not go by this community opinions when it comes to WP or whatever because everyone is entitled to there own.

On here if you even wisper WP people growl and spit at you, so fvucking what i say, if it is what i want then sod them lot and if i want to talk WP i damm well will regardless of and more so if they do not like it .

I will wait and see but definetly not the N9 so count me out 100% on that score, all i want now is an easy device and one that i do not have to solder up the usb port .

Hey i am getting OLD and i would hazard a guess and say i am probably one of the oldest members of this community, wish i had the youth some of you lot have but there you go .

I now just want an easy life.

LOL I'm not a die-hard you tool, I just find it very difficult to tolerate stupidity.
So I get sucked into countering your lame thought bubbles.

I've never had an issue with other posters who are disappointed one way or another.*
Because they back-up what they're not happy about with logic.

Sure I'll counter if I disagree with their rationale...
But that's the essence of a worthwhile discussion, a concept you don't understand.

*heck I've been one of them!

    Jalyst and abill_uk

Do you think there is anyone still reading this thread that haven't already read you points?

While I agree more with one of you, you are both equally annoying most of the time.

    Get a room.

The video here shows NFC on Samsung Galaxy S2 that will be released in Canada (Telus) and probably US (T-Mobile). I think At&t version coming in a week also has NFC. Apparently the Sprint version does not have NFC but I'm not sure.

    Yep that's about right...
Mike's in the EU, which got the bog standard 'international' SII many moons before the US.
Mike you'll probably have to wait for the NexusPrime or the SIII, both will be out before the N9
Unless there's NA carriers/resellers that'll let you buy a NFC enabled SII outright??

Why are people spreading these weird rumours, when they don't even follow Microsoft?
