    So much spam today. grr.

I'm trying out a new plugin that does an extra check against Akismet: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=248470

Also, if a post has more than 10 links, they need to be moderated.

I might have deleted the post that you were reporting already.

That looks good and everybody would understand if the forum rules say "Not more than <number> links excluding quotes".

    How can we strike back?
Put the email adresses that they use onto blacklists?

Could this addon be useful too?

    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96018

It prevents users with less than 15 messages from posting URLs or images within their messages.

Yes, it does happen. The new plug-in checks only for IP addresses of spammers reported on the last 10 days (can be increased). This hopes to solve that problem with regards to members using dynamic IPs.

    Thanks.

Thanks but it looks like that's a plugin for an old vB version. Try to check for plug-ins for vb3.8.

Looks like the new plug-in is holding up nicely, thanks to the additional check from Akismet:

Question: are those spambots intelligent enough to generate and verify real email addresses? Because if not the solution seems obvious.

Yes. They create email addresses from free services and they have automated the process of clicking the link on the verification email that they get.
