If you've already lost your RSS feeds, then I'd recommend wiping the feed reader directory and letting it start again:

rm -r .osso_rss_feed_reader
I'd also keep an eye on it in future - if it's using 1.5G then either it's not removing old feed entries, or you're subscribing to some very heavy feeds.

excellent that cleared.

do the rest of the folders look normal? are there anymore i can clear out? i have 8000 tx messages are they causing a problem?

The others all look perfectly normal. I doubt the text messages would cause any problem - they're very small, so even 8000 won't amount to more than a few meg.

I am also getting the same error msg. "Device memory full, remove some data".

I don`t know how to use x-term. Can anyone suggest a simple way to get rid of this problem & free some space on the device?
