Nokia wants to recoup those millions they put to developing
MeeGo. Windows Phone they did not have to put R&D resources into.

N9 also got higher reso screen, NFC, front camera and 1GB of RAM, all missing from 800.

As N9 64GB owner i see no reason for 800, might get 710.

Couldn't I install winscp on the phone and ssh into my linux box?

I think you'd have to put a gun to my head to force me to use the anything with MS logo stamped to it.

I highly unlikely be buying any of the WP7 phones, I think I'm stuck with Android (Ice cream looks good with multi-tasking), or Tizen if Samsung can be bothered to make a phone with decent build quality, decent microphone and loudspeaker - i.e. built for voice clarity not acting like a chav and blasting music.

Depends on whether it's available for WP7.5 - you can't just install the desktop version, and I doubt that it's as simple as just recompiling for ARM either.

Whats the point in a windows phone if it wont run windows software?
