Instructions for getting N9 to work with Nokia Suite are here: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia...076/n9-support

See post 31. Seems that also at least SMS and photo sync works OK.
So let me think. Nokia did actually make Nokia/Ovi Suite compatible with N9. Then they, on purpose, dropped N9 support from Nokia/Ovi Suite and decided to create a separate but more limited program to perform some, not all, tasks that Nokia/Ovi Suite handles.

I have to ask one question: WTF is wrong with you people who decided that Nokia/Ovi Suite should be replaced with Nokia Link (which does not do anything really useful like backing up contacts or syncing calender locally. It is essiantially just a GUI for some mass storage mode actions.)?

Even if PC Suite was compatible I would be thrilled. Unless they are adding on to Link, which is doubtful.

Ok, I know this was brought up somewhere in some thread, but I can't find it nor the answer...

But has anyone had issues downloading the navigation voices for the drive app? Last night I noticed I didn't have any voices installed, so I went ahead and installed the male US voice. Seems to work all fine and dandy, but then I didn't really like the sound of the male US voice, so I went to download new... but I keep on getting a:

"Sorry, the list of new navigation voices can't be reached. Please try again later."

I've had this all day yesterday and today. Am I not allowed to download more than one voice? And if so how do I uninstall the previous one?

    Check for broken dependencies:
    devel-su
    give password "rootme"
    apt-get check

    Anything interesting in the output?

Checking version of the drive packages
    dpkg -s nokia-drive-qml
    dpkg -s nokia-drive-qml-guard

Anything interesting in the output? (I have version 1.0.6+0m6 of both)

Just wondering if anyone is having issues with the BH-505 - on bumping, the NFC logo shows up on the N9, Bluetooth turns on, Bluetooth turns off... and... that's it. I think I may have paired the BH-505 with too many devices

There was also this golden nugget in one the the threads about N9 & Suite from one of their product manager.

Basically same old story: "It's that guy's fault, not mine!".

Sigh, I can't understand why this is often the answer. Customers don't care who's "fault" this is, they bought the damn phone and SW from Nokia. Not separately from "N9 company" and "Suite company".

Nothing unusual, both are at 1.06+0m6. apt-get check didn't really pull out anything either. apt-get update is timing out for me... but I will try again later when I'm home.

Thank you for your assistance. It is appreciated.

Yep. That was the first thing I did - noticed it earlier, tried to fix, nothing doing.

Edit5: I don't think this is a real issue. I think it was a combination of cold/dry hands (Canadian winter) and my one-handed attempts to swipe away the lock screen. Thank you everyone for your insight and advice, which prompted me to stop the panic and start thinking. I'm leaving this post as-is so in case anyone else has a similar phantom issue.

I'm not normally one to panic, but I need help and I need it fast.

Friend 1: "Show <friend 2> your new phone"
    Me: "OK I will"

All of a sudden, the lock screen won't swipe away. There's movement, but it's like it won't leave the confines of the physical display. OK, no big deal - reboot. Does it again.

This issue apparently came into being spontaneously on the walk home from work. All I was doing was listening to music.

Today an update for SSH server/client came through, so I installed it. Other than that I haven't touched the software on the phone for a couple of days.

For obvious reasons, this is not OK! I have to go out this evening and need my phone. I have a selection of fine backup devices, but I'm rather fond of my N9. Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

I'm just rebooting for the 4th time, and I'm going to try turning off the lock screen.

    AAAAARGH.

Edit: It's surprisingly hard to Google for this.
Edit2: the issue seems to be intermittent (but present nearly all the time). I've tried turning off the lock screen, no apparent effect. But then try 5x and one time it works OK. I've also tried cleaning the screen and removing the case and getting someone else to try, just in case I'm built on an Indian burial ground.
Edit3: this is really very much not OK. I'm fine with an IT issue that I can research or attack somehow, but I have no idea where to begin with this. I don't think my N900 scared me this much in two years
Edit4: OK! A monster super-fast swipe aka moving my thumb across the screen at 50mph (tried in desperation) seems to do the trick and gets me back from the lock screen. What happened to the nice smooooooth slow movements I used to be able to do? Seems like only the lock screen is affected - normal use is fine (can move my thumb or finger as before to get the desired result) so this issue must surely be in software.
