OMP have full subtitle support?
( loading sub file from same director, jump +- 1 sec, maybe downloading from subtitle sites after the video name... ).

@sbock: Use QtLinguist for translate openmediaplayer.ts and you can release openmediaplayer.de_DE.qm for testing in your phone, just put this file in /opt/openmediaplayer/lang.
