Okay some one help me here.

I have a subscripiton for some sports channels which are streamed from the uk. I use it to watch cricket. Initially i tried to watch it in x terminal using mplayer.

For example

mplayer http://(.nsv stream address)

The video starts and it plays 2-3 frames and stops playing the video while the audio plays well.
The video was unwatchable and stuttered a lot. So i thought i would listen atleast to the audio via ad2p and added

mplayer http://(.nsv stream address) -ao alsa:device=a2dpd2 -ac ffmp3

Surprisingly the video this time did not stutter but i could see the video in slow motion. But the big difference was it was perfectly watchable(not in the perfect sense!). But there was a huge difference in the quality of the video. But there was no audio at all coming through the bluetooth headset.

so i next used

mplayer http://(.nsv stream address) -ao ffmp3

I have no idea about mplayer and its codes so i thought atleast i could play audio directly through the speakers by doing so. But still no audio. And the video was pretty good but in slow motion. The video payed for about 15 seconds and died. So next i tried to increase the cache size... and after dioing so i found that the video played for a longer time without crashing.

Now the problem here is.... I have no idea about the usage of codes in mplayer and i was wondering if any one could get this working by changing anything. Hell even if they cant change the slow motion thing .... i would be greatful if they showed me how to play the sound. It looks okay to watch my circket or any other sport during class!!!

thanks

i'd be interested to know if anyone has any further input on this.

i dont own a n800 but am looking to purchase one.

i also have similair subscriptions to online internet streaming services. They stream using NSV also.

Would want to know that nsv works on mplayer before going ahead and buying the n800.

thanks

If playing .nsv is your primary concern..... forget the n800. Its cpu is not powerful enough to decode the stream. In fact i dont know of any handhelds which can handle 400-500 kbps .nsv.
The best result i got was slow motion streaming without sound. And even that drops whenever the cache is full(depending on how much cache you allocate) and connects again.

Bottom line...... streaming .nsv not for the n800. Find something else. But for just checking the scores and watching little bits and peices it is okay.

Now that is pure FUD...few NSV streaming services stream 400+ kbps...most are in the 120-320 kbps range. And many services such as Netflix (non-NSV) detect yout system and connection speed adjusting the stream to the connection & system.

If the processor on the N800/N810 cannot handle this then it is not truly an Internet Tablet as advertized.

You could use vlc in the middle to play it smoothly.
