really i need help in this tool,
it is the first tie to me dealing with X terminal

    i did the following steps:
    1. download smsimporter-bin.tar.gz from attachment and unpack it on my PC - smsimporter binary didn't identified in N900, there is a ? beside it
    2. connect my N900 using USB cable in "Mass storage mode"
    3. copy extracted smsimporter and my sms messages directly to device on the root - beside another folders
    4. disconnect USB cable
    5. open X terminal
then i don' know what i should do to use X terminal as i didn't deal with it before,

    Worked perfectly.

Changed delimiter to semicolon from comma for safety's sake. Had to get the binary from Matrim (#178).

All conversations now loaded! What a relief. Nokia developers = FAIL!

do "ln -s librtcom-eventlogger.so.1 librtcom-eventlogger.so.0" and it will go fine.

Also do not forget to run it as user and do this right on the device's terminal (not via ssh as I did).

    hi all
this works fine except that it fails to distinguish between sent and received messages. They're all processed as sent, whereas received messages should say "deliver" instead of "submit" and the telephone number should go in field 3 instead of 4.

is there any chance anyone could fix it....? thanks!

This is how I have transferred all my SMS from my N900 to a Android phone:

    1. install glogarchive for N900, switch to LiveDB and export to CSV, e.g. filename "liveDB.csv"
    2. run the attached Python script to convert it to Athg2SMS format.
This requires Python to be installed (e.g. on your N900 - apt-get install python)
execute in the Terminal on your Mac/Linux PC or N900 (might work on Windows as well):
    Code:
    python log2csv.py < liveDB.csv > sms.csv
    3. install Athg2SMS on your Android phone, copy sms.csv to it and import it in Athg2SMS using the Nokia format - warning: don't touch the phone during import - the app is unstable.
    this might take a while...
    4. success

PS: smstools didn't work as they cant differentiate between in and outgoing SMS

...as I like to say, be very wary of CSV import/exports. Carriage returns in SMSes are legitimate...and will either be stripped or munged. It's why I wrote a VMG importer/exporter for my N900.

It works even pr 1.3. Just do exactly like above format. I used 0.2.2 binary.
