Just forget about petitioning Whatsapp. They have very fixed ideas on what platforms they want to support and no amount of petitioning will make them change their mind. Samsung Bada users have been petitioning Whatsapp for more than a year but their appeals have fallen on deaf ears. If Bada which has a 2.2% global market share (more than WP7's 1.5%) cannot get Whatsapp ported to their platform what chance does Meego-Harmattan have?

But there's some hope. Whatsapp API has been cracked by XDA developers. Now it's a matter of putting a UI on it to make Whatsapp available for all platforms. Spend your energy helping this developer is more useful than petitioning those elitist pigs at Whatsapp.

...and while you're at it, please sign my petition to get free candy, puppies and a flying car for everyone.

Sheesh. Enough petitions. They don't work in this context.

It's now a Java program so it won't run on N9. But my point is that Whatsapp's days are numbered. They achieved a success which made them practically the de facto mobile phone standard but they are going to blow it with their stupid selectiveness in porting to other platforms. Whatsapp failed to understand that their attractiveness is cross platform support so restricting platforms is killing themselves. And Whatsapp is a paid app, mind you.

    There's a thread in this sub-forum somewhere....
    http://forum.meego.com/forumdisplay....er=desc&page=3
Where someone has shown how to get java apps going & plans to support it
Apps or applets, can't recall, def. java related & for apps of that nature.

Here's the thread, haven't heard from them in while though!

But who cares follow the eBuddy or LiveProfile threads.
They can do exactly the same thing and have decent sized communities.
I think there's even Kik Messenger maybe coming soon too IIRC.

    As already mentioned...
Whatsapp aren't interested in the bada community (which is bigger than maemo/meego/wp).
So there's no chance they'll do anything for maemo/meego, screw them.
