I was just reading in another thread (why are there several of these threads?)... that davgus tried with a couple of different computers and still had the same problem.

I suppose if you have access to another PC you could try that too, but based on what davgus has reported I'm now leaning toward it not being a PC-specific problem.

Which leads me to think it might be an issue with the tablet itself. But what? ... hmmm... something bad in the 256 MB of device flash memory?

I'm not a Linux guy, but maybe someone who is could advise on a method to do a check of the onboard flash memory.

technut! Good morning. Ah, xp not 64.! My oversight. Meant to say that. Here's the plan:

In a few hours (catch up with the rest of my life) I will re boot my lap, exit all not essential programs and give it another try.

iancumihai etal: the reason I want to upgrade is to have the os that most of the new development is going to be focused on. I want to begin learning to program. (Some modest background decades ago in college) The Speed increase. The other features.

I will post on a "HowI use my tablet" Type thread when I get it working. Though I may have to rebuild my repository slowed down applications for os07 and wait out a solution to this.

Or return it?

Yes! Something in this sounds right! Anybody know how I can check the memory? Maybe that is why the Nokia service people suggested sending the beasty back.

If I go that route (or not) will need a list of recommended readings to prepare for future guru status.

Got back to this mini project and had a great idea to check my events viewer to see what it may tell me. The only event of interest was that when I installed .nett 2.# something had gone wrong. A check of installed programs found it there so i ended up updating it. Fingers crossed. Would have been a great solution. Too Bad.

Same-same.

So it is off with the beasty! Do feel a little raw about having to pay for the post. Petty of me I know.

Considering the season, any bets on when I get this back? I figure if it is still January I'll be doing good!

BTW when I tried to reflash it went onto the net and the download time was in the 200 minutes range! Been a little while now to still have this problem eh? Nokia, It'd be sure nice to feel part of the family here! Just a thought.

Happy holidays to all and I will be reading along here to get to know you all and learn what I can. Thanks for the help.

If I get some information on how to do a check on the internal memory before I send it away, I will and post the results.

Thanks again.
