Well I just placed my order with Dell for my N810. I'm regretting it already! I was originally planning to get an EEE PC for the holidays, but then looked at the Palm TX. My friend has a LifeDrive, so I asked him if I could borrow it. My conclusion: Palm OS is complete crap. He then reminded me that another friend had purchased an N800. I said, "What's that?". A quick google gave me my answer. So here I am, with the N810 coming in two business days. I regret spending all this money that was going to be for a fully fledged laptop. But now I think that the N810 would nicely complement a Via Cloudbook that would be purchased next year. I just now realized that this is just me kind of rambling on and not really a forum topic.

Just to give you a heads up and hoping optimistically that you've already received a tracking number from Dell for your N810, because the order that I placed on Nov 27th has now been delayed twice and pushed back to an estimated shipping date of Jan 2nd.

The upside is if your delay is anything like mine, it will give you a chance to really evaluate if the N810 is really what you want. The Asus has a lot going for it and if it wasn't for the fact that I already own a 4 pound M1330 laptop, I'd have considered the Asus. For maximum portability though, the N810 presses all the right buttons for me.

Good luck on getting the N810 from Dell relatively quick though.....If you already have it on it's way to you, I'm really going to be pissed off at Dell.

If you like having a handheld machine that has a decent built in web browser *and* is a great platform for hacking around in Linux you'd be hard pressed to find something that's a better fit than the N810/N800. I assume from your other thread that you do in fact know a little about Linux. For someone who is afraid of the command line or just doesn't have much experience with Linux I would hesitate to recommend a N8x0 at this point, but for existing Linux users it's pretty much the best handheld Linux system out right now. And as an N800 owner I am rightfully jealous of the keyboard. Off-topic: I'm still confused why no one can manage to release a device with a keyboard as nice as the one on the Zaurus SL-C1000/Cxx00.

I picked the 2-day shipping but i guess it doesn't matter... If it take significantly longer, can I file a suit against them? Not that I would, of course.

I hate Dell...i'm in the same category as the poster above...waiting incessantly for my N810 to ship...order placed on 12/6 and pushed back twice to Jan. 3 as of today...odds are that shipping date won't be met either...the worst part is that on their site it shows ships in 5-7 business days...it showed that when i ordered on 12/6 and still shows it now...what a pain in the ***...then when i called to complain that my "xmas gift" wouldn't make it by xmas their excellent customer service offered to give me a coupon for future purchase...gee, thanks Dell...i can't wait to hurry up and make my next purchase so i can wait for an unspecified amount of time for it to be delivered...you really know how to satisfy your customers...sorry for the rant...

I was just going to place an order with Dell for the N810 but then remembered that they take so long to ship items, I didn't think I'd get it anytime soon. Luck for me! Instead I saw that Buy.com has it now for $2 less than Dell (and you can easily find a 5% off up to $15 coupon for Buy by doing a search). Ordered it this morning at 9am and they already shipped it in the afternoon. Hopefully the next day air (only $20) will get it to me in time to play for Christmas!

well cheaper unless you used a 15% off coupon at dell which i was able to do...i guess getting an n810 for ~$360 and change is worth the wait but come on dell...at least post the right thing on your page...instead of ships in 5-7 business days put on back order with next shipment expected 1/2/08.

@adhesiv: Oops, yeah that is a good deal. I'd wait for that price too! I didn't have or couldn't find any coupons for Dell though, or else I would've ordered it from them.
