FYI: Turns out that I'm full of it. I just sent myself a test MMS on the N9 and it looks like super down-rezzed crap. My previous recollection of full sized MMS images must have been in error.

We're all in the same boat here...

I noticed you posted about the Ovi store allowing carrier billing on T-mo US now....do you think there's any chance of them registering the N9 with the network as well, seeing as there are a growing number of us here in the US?
Not in this lifetime... They don't like us unlocked and wierd phone users... lol, every tmobile rep I've spoken to or seen I've asked them to track down what phone I'm using, no one can tell because in their systems the N9 shows up as unavailable...

Consider lucky for getting a reduced size MMS on T-Mobile see how iPhone users are not even able to receive them. When I was with them for 4 years, they could not do anything with the MMS resizing on unlocked phones.

Thought of an interesting question related to this....does anyone have an N9 on T-mobile UK, and has the MMS working regularly? I would assume that T-mobile US could pull settings/software from T-mobile UK,

No it did not. MMS was not supported in the N900 for a long time, and then fMMS came out. There were multiple conflicts in fMMS with T-Mobile USA though. I was able to get it to work nicely, but after a while, the N900 would reset it's IP settings, and that would be annoying.

My N9 has the same issues you guys have. I tried to go into settings and MMS settings, and set the data limit to the highest, but that still did not work when I tested MMS from my wife's phone. Interesting how Maemo hates MMS in the U.S., haha. Well, still better than the N900, I can get MMS even though tiny...I guess.

    ^^
I'm with tmobile as well and fmms worked very well for me. My mms came in full sized and I experienced very few problems with the app, especially after it gained auto configuration capabilities. In fact, the first thing I did when I first got tiny mms on my N9 was to configure the phone with fmms settings from my N900. Didn't work of course.

I've used unlocked and imported phones on tmobile since 2004. Some of my phones started out receiving downsized mms and later got full sized mms as tmobile updated their phone database. I think there's hope yet for the N9.

The problem is not specific to the N9; it's a T-Mobile issue. Any phone model that's not loaded into the MMS server database gets downsized automatically to a very low resolution on the server side. If T-Mobile adds the model into the database, it will receive full-sized images.

The problem is that there's no definitive way to get them to add a particular model. I know several people hounded them about the N8 until it was added, so there is hope in complaining, I suppose.

^ If that's correct, then people posting in threads like this, should be directing their energies towards t-mobile.
The more *****ing & complaining you all do to t-mobile, the greater the chance they'll do something about it!
