After digging further into this I find that it is indeed a server problem. I did the following as root:

- apt-get install wget (which works fine)
- wget http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p....3-2_armel.deb
- cat libgdbm3_1.8.3-2_armel.deb

I get this for several Python 2.5 Runtime Packages, not all of them but always the same ???? for 3 Days now :-( this is getting rediclous with the repos.

Any alternatives to download the debs for the Python Runtime ??? maybe someone can nicely put the debs on another server ?

aaarch ... waiting to install all those nice apps for the cool looking OS2008 depending on the python 2.5 runtime. i managed to download a part of the files, and install it direct. But still the major packages are missing hildon- .... etc.

no way to get these downloaded

okay i will be patient, maybe someday, sometime, someone , will fix the problem.

in the meen time

i am getting really nervous...
i cant install many apps including (python, load-applet, canola,...)
and generally i am having problems to update the application manager.
in xterm i get the message "the following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available..."
can we do anything or we just have to wait..

The signature error is not so critical, you can still install, when the repos are working

Python is not Hildonized is it? So would it work?

I am too chicken to try it because I do have a functioning OS2008 system with Canola 2 on it and I don't want to lose that until the Finnish holidays are over ...

So stick to your fancy 2008 and wait untill things get fixed
