My commnets about the accuracy of Nokia maps was specifically about their street database.
It seems some are comparing points of interest (POI) and satellite imagery, neither of which is an indication of how current the maps themselves are.

To be honest, in terms of mapping, they both have short comings, I find nokia maps much nicer to look at and more readable on the move then google maps, Nokia maps are not 5 years out of date, seriously a brainless comment that is.
5 years is such an over exaggeration, its more like a few months off google maps, and tbh, it gets the job done 9 times out of 10
People need to realise that nothing will ever be perfect, but don't go on as if the competition is perfect, google maps have plenty of flaws the same way nokia maps do, its just how the technology world works, we will never get one main product that beats them all in EVERY aspect!

Well Nokia do at least know how to build a decent phone, just apparently don't know how to support it..

Regardless of the database accuracy, Google's search in their maps makes Nokia maps look like child's play. I think it's a matter of time before Microsoft buys Nokia's maps division. Let's face it, Nokia and software just don't mix.

They are fine with software..
Especially the maps, it has no problem getting me where I need to go, never had a problem with it not finding something, if it ever got stuck you can always google the company and then just navigate to the address

What Nokia maps is really missing is POIs. It positively sucks on that front. But street/road wise its so much better than google maps.
What they need now is a Nokia Map Community Edition, which will be like Google MapMaker, where users can add/edit POIs and after moderation it will enter Nokia Maps.

Biggest gripe of Nokia Maps is it's horrible search function. I search for such a common clothing store when I was maybe a couple of block away from it and instead of just showing accurate results of the store it takes me all the way to another country and the place that shows up as a result wasn't even a clothing store.
Google maps however is very friendly with its search function. It knows what the user is looking for and results show up in order of closest distance which is very precise. I seriously have to use google.com just to find the street address/number of whatever I'm looking for because 7/10 nokia maps is off by so much and it ends up being a nuisance than anything helpful.
Only thing i would use Nokia maps for is just the drive app with me putting the exact address instead of searching for it first using nokia maps.
