Just a thought, but could it be that your battery needs charging?

I'm not sure if it's still the case, but there used to be issues with Meego charging the phone whilst it was off.

Have you tried charging the battery in a standalone charger or compatible device?

I've been thinking the same thing. The led isnt blinking when charging it with a standalone charger (neither in usb). Pretty sure it used to blink? just a steady orange now. I dont have a compatible device on my hands though:/

Update:
When plugged into my win7 laptop the led doesnt even turn off when i remove the battery..is it supposed to run on usbpower? Kernel doesnt boot either.

Im finally making some progress! After having the phone connected via usb without battery for some time (led light still on) and then put in the battery my win7 recognized it for a second and started loading the drivers before the phone loaded the faulty meegokernel.

Unfortunately this is not the case in ubuntu...Takes a lot longer for the phone to know its connected(at least by looking at the led).

To bad my win7 64bit wont work with flasher. Guess i have to download win xp and give that a try instead, hah.

try this get it into fash mode take out the battery first, do not reinsert it. Then hold the u botton before plugin in usb wire, there should be a small usb icon in the top left hope fully and then reinsert the battery... and proceed with fashing it as normal

That doesnt work. The battery has to be inserted before connecting it to the usb, else it wont start..

trying to get it working with win 7 but no luck yet. Havent even managed producing the same usb recognition as last time either.

Garbage can next
