Is this stuck here? I mean if nobody is giving this stuff a try. It would be a cool gadget to use with a N900 as this is very fat and heavy. Sure that the probability to be able to use it, and more, the possibility to be able to make something useful work is really low. But anyway, let's keep hope high.

Looks quite cool, I see there's an SDK here: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wp...as?cc=gb&lc=en

As I understand it the SDK is only for writing plugins for the Android LiveView daemon, what we need is a copy of the daemon ported to N900.

I'm afraid I have pretty much given up on implementing this in Python as it drains the LiveView battery in as little as an hour or two, even though LiveView is in standby not even doing anything. In fact I think LiveView is defective by design as even if I run the python script, let LiveView sync and set its time, then kill the script (so LiveView is then disconnected), LiveView still dies in about 6 hours which is FAR too short for a watch. The only way I can see it being useful is if you rig an external battery to it.

So for now I am just hoping once I get my Android phone in the next few weeks that somehow the official LiveView daemon improves the battery consumption, although I don't think it will. If it doesn't I will be sending this back to Sony in the hope its a defective unit.

Well I finally got my LG Optimus 3D and so can confirm that I either have a defective unit or Sony Ericsson are idiots, because the battery life is identical to when I was testing on Maemo.

No way it can be legal to claim up to 96hours of active use on the box and it actually get a maximum of 6 (if you basically just leave it with the screen off checking once or twice what time it is) or about an hour if you are actually using it.

    Bumping up this thread

The liveviews are getting very cheap nowadays (€25 in the Netherlands, free shipping) Click for cheap
And since it's some part is already ported, I would like to see this cutie running on our Maemo (5/6) devices.

    Would be awesome!
    Anyone up for the challange?
Would like to donate for the one that is up for the challange!

Would love it for both Maemo 5 and 6 as stated in my previous post.

    Maemo 6 = N9 and the N950
