    Dr. Frost,

Are you familiar with any stories of Mugen batteries exploding et cetera? A battery is the one part that I am averted to testing out as I fear incredibly cheap manufacturing.

    Thank you,

    Abe

Not heard about exploding/fire venting mugen battery's, but have heard some complaining about bad quality, short lived battery's, even the XL for our N900.

    Dr. Frost,

I have some good news for you. Because of your hard work and dedication, I am going to order you a Mugen at the same time I order myself one. I very much appreciate your work with the battery mod and would absolutely do the same myself if not for one factor: using a separate charging cable. I already carry enough cables around.

Anyway, I'm not joking. PM me your address if you'd like and I will order a Mugen battery for you and you can post the results after testing it.

    Sincerely,

    Abe

You don't need to have separate charging method, it's purely optional. Dual-scud can be charged like every N900 battery - via microUSB cable.

I suppose I did not read closely enough. Regardless, I'm ordering the two batteries for Frost and myself.

My already fat phone is about to go on a hamburger diet.

    Thanks,

    Abe

    Something worth considering ...

Having mangled a pair of cheapo knock-off BL-5Js trying to pair them up (they were really badly made) as a practice run, it occurred to me I'd be better of getting some refurb Nokia BL-5Js (you can find a few reputable refurb sellers on Ebay).

Got a pair of real Nokia batteries for £3 each and they are both 1) decent capacity and 2) exactly the sort of thing you need for practicing on.

So - I daresay that is another option if you don't wish to go down the Scud route?

BTW - I employed this dual battery trick for my back-up ZTE Blade. Awesome uptime (6 days 13 hours) albeit with careful use of powerbar (the wifi is at best dodgy in this unit, so turning off wifi and bluetooth when not needed is necessary). Cheers for the inspiration

Anyone know if it is the new or old Mugen backplate/back cover that has the camera switch? I've seen images of one with and one without.

    Thanks,

    Abe

All I can tell you is that the Mugen cover I ordered and received before Christmas 2011 has a camera switch (but, obviously, no lens protector).
