Is it possible to disable desktop icon creation?
I'm always getting the error on step 6 (cannot copy icon)
I always have to create the desktop manually so I'd like to have the game added to Manager.conf

As the tutorial said to create new .ini file from existing game just rename it and details , i did it and copied the new one in the /share/wgames/ini folder n also the png file. brother in arm got installed and runs great but when i created a new .ini for fifa it is added but shown already installed which it isnt.. and also the proper names of the games are not shown and blank space is added in the web os manager..

How do i deal with this coz i can only install one game and if new ini file added is shown installed

You might want to upload your ini file and share it with us so somebody can look at it and possibly resolve your issue...

I'm not sure about "_1.0.24" bit in your IPK and ID lines but anyway I was after your Brothers in Arms ini file, could you paste it's contents?

I've very strange problem with installing some .ipk games via webos manager. Generally, it works flawlessly - for example, I've installed Giant (Fighting) Robots (122 MB unpacked), or Astraware Casino (4.5 MB unpacked), and it went well.

Yet, every time I try to install X-Plane Default, webos manager get stuck on step 4 (unpacking) - it just stay at this step forever, no matter how many times I try. I can cancel without problems, so technically, manager isn't "hanged". I've watched how it looks via top, and for some time (usual, for unpacking such file) tar is writing large output, yet, no file appear (folders are created flawlessly on former steps).

The strange thing, is that after reasonable time, tar and dpkg-deb stops using cpu and creating I/O (yet, are still listed in I/O list, with 0 kb/s I/O), but webos doesn't jump into next step.

I've monitored unpacking of other big game (Giant Robots), and it's looking exactly the same - tar generating heavy write output. Yet, when it finish, webos manager starts step 5 and 6, then finalize installation successfully.

I know that it was reported before by some people (with less technical research - one guy reported "stuck on step 4, with two arrows going up and down forever", which is exactly how it looks judging by manager interface. Yet, I wasn't able to find any solutions.

I know that I can unpack X-Plane manually, yet, I'm curious why it doesn't work with webos manager as it should. Especially, that all .ipk files are packed same way, yep? So what's the "blocker" difference?...

Update: Tried with X-Plane Space Shuttle edition, and same things happen (stuck forever on "Unpacking archive (this may take a while"). At the same time, Battleships works installs flawlessly.

There is definitelly something wrong with WebOS games manager, when it comes to X-Plane's .ipk files, yet, I have NFC what.

When - after hours of being stuck on unpacking (step 4) I kill tar, webos games manager immediately report error, and even gives information why (last report from tar - in this case, about being killed from terminal). If I kill dpkg-deb, it jumps to step 5 (copying bin and creating symlinks), but fails, due to lack of files for copying.

Yet, when left alon, it sit forever @ step 4, with tar and dpkg-deb running in background (with 0 I/O), and without single error... Just "unpacking", eternally. What the... duck?

Unfortunately, both WebOS Games Manager and preenv are unmaintained. There are a lot of ini files for WGM provided by users along this thread (now probably impossible to download again) that were never integrated into the application and these kind or bugs remain unfixed.

The preenv situation is even worse, as there is a version in the repos, the one with jflatt's patches for multitouch keymapping included by WGM and another one with partial support for HD games.
