I recieved my brand new noka n800 in the mail today. After turning on the device and getting used to it. i pressed the power button and clicked "turn off". After doing this the system does not power on again for around 15 minutes, in which then it works fine. Am i doing something wrong? Are you not supposed to turn it off when your finished using it?? any help would be appreciated.
thanks
This has been happening to me as well.
Ever since I put the official "first release" of 2008 for n800 on the device.
SOmetimes (more than 3 times) when I either
1. turn it off manually
2. let the battery drain completely
or
3. after charging overnight
then I can't turn it on until I pull the battery and wait several seconds.
I've had the exact same problem. Everything worked fine with OS2007, but I'm having lots of problems with OS2008. If anyone finds a fix, please let us know. If not, looks like I'll have to re-flash to OS2007.
I just got a new n800, with similar experience. Installed battery, plugged in charger, got "charging" message and icon, and then when it said "charged" I unplugged the charger. The message went away. Then tried to turn it on. No dice.
Listening to some of the advice on this forum, I removed the battery for up to an hour, pushed and held the power button, but nothing worked.
Then I put the device (without battery) into a freezer for 45 minutes. Reinstalled battery, plugged in charger.
Now it's sitting there with the "Charging" message and icon again.
I'm not sure what to do next.
Apparently this is a known problem and Nokia is working on a fix... but I have 30 days to decide whether or not to return it to my vendor. Will I need to carry around a freezer with me in order to power up my n800?
This has been a most UN-triumphant out of box experience. I have had the device for a good chunk of a day and have not seen it do anything but show a "charging" message or do a very compelling brick impersonation.
