PS. Now when I know where to look I activated LPS on MeeCast and I can see logo.png created, with the current weather condition. But it is NOT shown on LPS, There is just the old info, from the time of first switching on the feature.

I have the exact same problem. Icon gets stuck without updating and remains there even after being turned off.

Ok. I understand. This is a bad news. I haven't N9 for experiments with LPS. I'm going to receive it next week and I will try to fix this situation.

Yes, in the settings > appearance > widget in standby screen click that to off.
