well i can assure you its fairly hard to break the n900 just by flashing

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware

first thing you should install is rootsh, and the second thing is adding the rest of the repos, and then install faster application manager

I think my question will contribute to OPīs post.

I just flashed my N900, smooth sailing all the way, took less than 15 minutes.

I was now searching for a way to make it a bit faster, and found 2 different start points.

One is this (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=73315), and the other is swappolube, which as I understand is a script that does something somewhat similar.

I would need some more reference since I donīt fully understand what to do. Thanx!

Do what you want, but have in mind that "patches" in the linked thread are also known as crappatch and batterysuckpatch. In short DO NOT INSTALL THOSE.

swappolube should be ok. In general, the best think you can do to get rid of stuttering and lag that happens from time to time is to move swap to sdcard (along with installing swappolube). Slight overclock helps too (up to 720-805). If you want descent battery life install kernel-power v50 (should be in extras-devel in a matter of days or pre50 from kernel-power thread if you are on a hurry) and make "default" your default profile.

Search the forum for threads howto move swap and howto OC.
