Importing them is possible via BT ('Send to' N9) or a file manager. In my case I use MyExplorer to export the 'backup' contacts folder to my NAS or PC. But importing them back and opeing and saving each file one-by-one is a tedious process.

A one-click solution should do the trick, as in the case of Symbian

Export to .vcf files, then copy the folder to a computer. reflash or whatever you need to do, then copy back the folder back to N9.
Final steps, use filebox or another file manager app to open the .vcf and then just need to "touch" save. The only problem is that you have to do this one by one. At least the export is for all
Yup what I tried doing initially. But the tedious process of openning the .vcf files one by one is a big turn-off.

In symbian, it's only a one-click process.

Good thing I got another N9 where in I got all my contacts and Notes copied. Whenever I need a reflash of my N9, I just import them back via 'From Another device'

What I really find dumb is that, there is an option in the 'Export Contacts' to a 'File', but none in the "Import Contacts'
