FWIW I'm an old Market Data dinosaur.

All Web based quotes from US Exchanges will be delayed 15+ minutes to meet the exchange distribution rules - the one remaining exception is BATS Trading which also provides credible orderbook data:

    http://www.batstrading.com

Also, descriptions of domestic US stocks is freely available online if you wanted to use it for selecting stocks to display:

    Nasdaq: http://www.nasdaqtrader.com/dynamic/SymDir/nasdaq.txt

    NYSE/AMEX: http://www.nasdaqtrader.com/dynamic/SymDir/cqsSym.txt

I'm looking at Bats and find it very interesting. Thanks for the tip. I am wondering...

Can you get it to show just the symbols you are tracking and do you have to be a registered user to do so? If you do, is there a registration fee?

Also, do the quotes update live (without a refresh?)

    Thanks!

Stock plug-in is not working on my 800 with OS2008. It runs as an applet. I get a blank white window on my desktop and a confirmation window in spanish. I tried entering a stock symbol in the confirmation window and the window went away, but I still only have a white blank window on the desktop.

I just tried and it did work for me - am using N810 with OS2008 (not the latest upgrade as yet).

I guess for those for whom its not working - maybe it depends on Python, which I had installed already.

Plugged in 3 stock symbols and it gets the quotes for all three. Have to try on a market open day to see how often it refreshes.

On the first window (settings) you have to enter a Stock symbol and then press on ADD (Adde) to add it to the 'watch'. You can keep adding a few stock symbols at a time. Then click on 'Confirma' to confirm the additions. The Symbols and the statistics show up in the Stock watcher window.

To get the settings again you have to long-click (nearly 4-5 seconds) on the window which gives a menu - Titulos (Settings window), Columnas (edit columns to show) and 'Claude' (close the applet).

P.s. - all my translations are from inference - I don't know the language also

i tried launching the streaming real time quote applets
from 2 stockbrokers from the os2008/n800 web browser
    and they fail to load...
i assume all of the free solutions listed in this thread are delayed quotes...
i want to get free streaming real time quotes that come from a broker...
real time quotes that are not from a broker are usually a premium service.... any solutions for broker provided streaming real time quotes?

I agree with shaky4... There should already be an applet that shows stock tickers... We have weather applet, stock tick should be a doable project. Again, we non-programmers/developers always ask, but there is little we could do since we don't know how to program.

Theres a weather program? Is it a desktop widget? Could you point me in its direction please?

OmWeather is your solution for Weather widget. It works on OS2008 on N810 flawlessly with transparent backgrounds also. Pretty nice app.
