So it's more like an organic background like on the symbian phones rather than a moving image file. Let's hope that the os has a support for moving images natively or this would be difficult.

Is the sine waves a feature of the PR1.2 update or the Home Screen settings 3rd party app. I (perhaps incorrectly) assumed it was introduced by an update to the Home Screen settings application earlier this week.

My stupidity aside; it would be awesome if we could animated wallpapers. I like sine, but it is a little dull

Yeah, that just seems to be the UI elements of Homescreen Settings that refer to the Sine Waves and it's color setting.

Still need to find the actual binary file that meegotouch executes to display the animation....

Just a thought, not even some tentative evidence, but... SVG supports animations. The N9 supports SVG (I guess). So if the UI supports SVG as backgrounds, you can animate them.

There is a new version coming with new dynamic background, glitters added to sin waves (like ps3) and support for different images in each screen.

anyway Vesuri seems to consider adding dynamic backgrounds upon request with a flash file or video sample.

I spoke to him about this. He said it can be done, but is more taxing on the system, and in doing so will also make his app "messy"

More specifically, keeping two background images in memory consumes more memory than just one, so that's the "more taxing" part. The "messy" part means having multiple background image selectors in the settings view instead of just one simple image selector. Neither of these are really showstoppers though.

Vesuri, what obstacles are there to generic (user created) animated wallpapers?
