No, that's a separate process. Reflashing the kernel means just that.

I have network registration and can send sms but I can't activate APN to use 3G data.
I noticed that when I swicth to harmattan , 2g/3g app doesn't work until I reconfigure it in the settings panel
I don't know if it's related with the APN issue in nitdroid and how can I fix that

Can someone explain to me why do i need to download and reflash the whole firmware by doing
flasher -a DFL61_HARMATTAN_30.2012.07-1_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin -k zImage --flash-only=kernel -f -R

i already have PR1.2.can't i flash the kernel only ??

it is not, it just flash your kernel only, it is not wipe your firmware and emmc
