Is anyone else having more trouble syncing their N900 with Google Calendar?

I used to be able to sync my N900's calendar with Google calendar. I
used the "Mail for Exchange" method that comes with Fremantle. It didn't
work perfectly - every couple of months I'd have to clear the calendar
in the N900, and resync from scratch, but that was tolerable. About
three months ago that stopped working completely. I've reflashed my
N900, to no avail. I tried syncing with SyncEvolution, but after
transferring ~200 items from the Google calendar, it fails with the
    message

    fatal error (remote, status 500)
First ERROR encountered: error code from SyncEvolution fatal error
    (local, status 10500): @default/calendar: parsing ical: BEGIN:VCALENDAR

Does anyone know of a way to sync the N900's calendar with Google calendar
    which still works?

    Thanks for any tips!

Is anyone successfully using SyncEvolution with an N900 to sync with google calendar? If so, could you point me to a discription of how you are doing it?

Hmm... that was around the time that Erminig started erroring on me, and no longer syncing with Google calendar.

    Yeah and No.

    No trouble.
I used Syncevolution succesfully on my friends N900. But he has 60 contacts and 4 calendar entries. We synced just the contacts as MfE wouldn't sync them up to google.

    Yeah trouble.
When I tried a few months back it didn't work on contacts after about 250 of them synced ok. Will try again as a test later this evening.

    And general answer:
I am using erminig-ng to sync other calendars than the main one. Then MfE for the contacts and main Calendar. Every now and then I have to remove all my contacts and n900 calendar and do a full sync to keep it working.

A better alternative would be of my liking, especially an open one that we can fix ourselves. Erminig and Syncevolution aimed to be those but still have some problems. If I would have the time I'd take a look into them. Maybe some day I will.

I have not been able to use mail for exchange reliably either.

Now I use erminig-ng to sync 2 gcalendars and I have been very happy with it.

To make it work reliably I had to patch it following https://thomas.apestaart.org/thomas/trac/changeset/2122.
    In particular,
    Code:
    pkg/maemo/erminig/trunk/Event.py ¶
    r2117 r2122
    140	140
    141	141	        def get_alarm(self):
    142 return self.alarm
     	142 """
     	143 @rtype: str
     	144 """
     	145 return str(self.alarm)
was the key to reliability in syncing.

I'm using it with the gui sucessfully. It is pretty straight forward, but note that you should avoid spaces in the sync profile name. See

I've been trying erminig-ng for the last two weeks, and I've finally given up on it. It kept making all of my events which were "all day" events into two day events. It also put a 0 minute alarm on events which were entered via google calendar, and frequently duplicated events.

I have given up syncing the N900. It worked earlier, not anymore.

I've got syncevolution working to sync with google calendar now. The only remaining problem is that events entered on the google calendar have an alarm asscociated with them when they are sync'd to the N900, even if no alarm time was specified in the google entry. I'll try to fid a solution to that, although I could live with it if I had to.

    @Ken-Young,

And with syncevolution you don't have the problem of all-day events spanning two days when sync'ed to the N900?

That's the most annoying problem I have with erminig at the moment (I fixed the alarm issue myself).
