I did that and Nokia emailed me, telling that I am unable to install Gtalk since PR 1.2 is still not available in my country. I emailed them back asking when this update is going to take place, but they haven't answered yet...
What bothers me the most is that their Portuguese website mentions PR 1.2 as the last OS version...
I am not from CH and never been there - bought my phone in the UK.
As far as % of sold units - if the market share for CH is so small that they donțt bother with updating those phones, why sell it there in the first place?
As far as I am concerned they could make the phone with whatever product code they like (south Sudan for ex.) - I could not care less.
What I care about is keeping the product up to date.
I would understand a week or two delay from one market to another, but I definitely donțt understand a more than a month delay...How is CH so much different from other European countries that have been updated already?
And the Swiss country variant is finally available, today, 20 April. It's installing here now.
I bought my N9 online from Expansys in Belgium. The fact that they shipped a "Swiss country variant" with German, French and Italian booklets shows how utterly, completely broken and stupid the whole country-specific version thing is. It must be so incredibly inefficient to have to build, support, test and distribute all these different software versions, for absolutely no reason whatsover. The devices getting shipped everywhere in the world.
Expansys are the guys who sent me a US N900 a couple of years ago, when I ordered in the UK. Didn't even bother sending along a converter for the U.S. power supply.
