Hi!

Awesome work with Wazapp! I really appreciate the developers who put their hard work into it.

Just one thing that's been bugging me. There isn't no manual refresh of connection.

When Wazapp is in a hotspot and I open it it connects (it doesn't give me the offline line at the top, naturally) but when I get away from the hotspot and return again, even though I have the wi-fi connection on my phone, Wazapp still says offline.

I'd have to quit the app and restart it in order to get the connection running again.

I hope for a refresh button or something. Just a suggestion!

A BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DEVELOPERS OUT THERE!

First, would like to thank the devs for their great effort in bringing this app,
Second, this is the way I finally got it working in my country,

uninstall wazzap

Install wazzap v0.1.8 but don't launch wazapp, instead open "Accounts" - then Add accounts and select wazapp from there (believe me, I tried the other way and never got it to work)

Once wazzap is launched enter your country code + the first digit of your number. eg. if code is +23 and number is 1234567890 you should enter on the code box like this +231 then on number 234567890, wait for the registration for complete (don't enter any other wazzap code registration number if you already had one), once the registration is complete, close wazzap and open it from the launcher, now that is fully working you can go and download v0.2.4 from the website and install it (DO NOT UNINSTALL v0.1.8)

I hope this can help someone

this is my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

p.s. sorry for beeing OT here. i'm still a little bit confused about the battery on my N9. sometimes it jumps at double consumption with no apparent reason. i noticed that, when:
playing music in background (and not close the player afterwards)
charging with pc when the battery is not really empty.

cheers,

Well, its a little OT but, here is my analysis. If you get remaining 34% battery after 14 hrs, it means your current consumption is

1450 * 0.65 / 14 = 67.3 mA . The math is simple as 1450mAh is the battery capacity and you consumed 65% . This more realistic as without OC , with GTalk/Wazapp and emails the drain is ~40mA, with OC I can expect it to more than 40 . Sorry for my ignorance, but I never really understood how you can get better battery life AFTER performing OC operation.

Again I apologise for the off-topic post.

Goin on topic, I noticed that current drain with Wazapp on 2.5G/EDGE is 25mA, which is not bad .

I have a question: Do your contacts recognize you as yourself, or do they ask you who you are when you text them. Because, at least in my country there is an extra number that is added by phone operator, to recognize the cellphones from the local landlines.

In my country the international code is +52 then area is 833 and finally my number composed of 7 digits.

Official Whatsapp registers my number as +52 1 833 (phone number), so you can see it adds a number 1 between my area code and international code.

When I registered wazapp for the first time it asked my for my number so i just registered +52 and then 8331234567. This marked me an error, so I did the trick you suggest (in 0.2 and previuous versions). And registered as +528 then 331234567 and it worked like a charm. BUT, this created a new account number thats is composed as +528 as country code and 331234567 as my number, resulting in a new account, that is not recognized as me by my contacts, it would display for them as +528331234567

Official whatsapp registers mine as +5218331234567, it adds an extra digit between country code and area code (which is 1) I hope this gets to tgalal, so he can work on it. Later I will try using my dads sim on the new version, to see if it works. My account right now displays an error that says fail-too-many:: but only on wazapp, I can register correctly on symbian.

I want to report a big bug regarding the registration process on Wazapp.

On previous versions I was able to change the country code.

On the first version of Wazapp, when I tried to register using the country code +52 and my number 833 (area code) 1370563 (local number) +52 8331370563
I got the "account expired please re-register" error, so after fiddling around, someone suggested to do the country code digit trick, which consists of moving one of the areacode+number digits to the country code, so I registered this way

Country Code +528
Phone number 331370563

Please note that the number 8 was moved from the phone number to the country code space. This led me to register succesfully, but when I texted my contacts they wouldnt recognize me, even when my number was +528331370563. Then I got to the conclussion that the digit trick created another account, using my numbers in different way. So, instead of being a mexican phone number, it was a country with country code +528 (which doesnt exist)

Then I took my sim to an official whatsapp client and registered succesfully, then I noted that all my contacts where under this format: +52 (country code) 1 (operator code to distinguish cellphones from landlines) 833 (area code) 1234567 (phone number)

i.e
+52 1 8331370563

(this is explained on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%2B52#D...co_from_abroad)

Here, the cellphone operator assings one digit (number 1) before every area code number when trying to call from outside mexico. So, here in mexico I can call cellphones by dialing either 8331370563 or +528331370563. But if someone from the US or other country wants to call to my cellphone, they have to dial +52 1 8331370568 and this rule applies to every mexican cellphone, and maybe other countries.

When I try to do the digit trick on my N9 by typing +521 8331370563 or +52 18331370563 the app doesnt recognize my number as own, so it display error. On the official app I just select my country and my number 8331370563. This makes me think that the official whatsapp client sends extra info to the server telling it that Im living in Mexico and there needs an extra digit for incoming cellphone calls or SMS, and not just the country code number.

Also, this might create problems when syncing contacts. Because we dont usually save numbers on international format, when we save it to wazapp, it has to send it to Whatsapp server and "convert" it to international format, plus every other digit operators might add, such as in my case.

This is important, because our contacts might be sending messages to us, but we wont receive because of account variations. And if they save it on their address book, they wouldnt know which one is which when trying to text us. So we wont receive every message, killing the purpose of Whatsapp

This mesage was sent to tgalal for review, but I think he's already aware of this!

Minor Bug - Lauch the app from Task Manager Screen and go to contacts, contact's list scrolls down by it self

Version: 0.2.4
Meego PR 1.2

Repro steps:
* Lauch app from scratch (all closed and splash screen appears)
* When Splash - Loading screen view appears, swipe it.
* Do whatever you need to do
* Go to Task Manager Screen and open Wazapp
* Click Contacts tabs

will automatically start scrolling down whitout even make a swipe.
Not important issue, but just to put it in the backlog.

Great job!!

On people who are getting fail-too-many, Whatsapp support won't help you. I got the "fail-too-many" problems too and I emailed them 7 times. Only 1 automated reply and nothing else.

On other questions abt what i did on overcoming my "fail-too-many":
i did not try restore settings as I am really sick of trying different solutions and clearing device was cleaner.

I also did not do backup. I am no developer nor someone who knows in-depth of how N9 works. I rather do everything clean from scratch, since something was not working and i do not know what.

All i know is that I have three devices, one android, one iphone and one n9. iphone and n9 failed in verifying and android has no issues, and that led me to think that clearing my device will work. And it did and I am happy and am not too bothered with why it worked and if I could do it in another way or not

Could you help me answering one question?

Under Wazapp account manager, the number that you are registered with is it the same one that you typed in when registering? Or is there any added digit?

To the people having the fail-too-many error, I suspect that we have reached the montly SMS registering limit, which I think its around 5 or 8...

So I deeply regret to say that we may have to wait until the counter resets back again, which could be until end of month. Starting July, unless Tgalal finds a way to register using internet only.

This registration process is available in official whatsapp clients, in example, symbian.

To prove this, you may switch your sim card to your symbian phone and you will register without issues. Try it and tell us.
