I updated to the new version (0.0.9).

The program starts, but then stays in the mode "Connecting". Moreover i don't see the yappari icon in the status bar anymore.

Should i better remove the program completely and then cleanly install the new version?
The version before went very well.

    Noticed some strange behaviour:

I f I THEN switch back to wi-fi, it works again. Only Wi-Fi. no carrier internet. (if I quit yappari then switch then start it again, it works fine.)

If I start on the carrier line and then switch to wi-fi, yappari stops working and doesn't even work when I switch back to the carrier.

That's my observation so far, I'll have to see tomorrow if this behaviour is reproducible.

(Testing this at home with bluestacks running a second whatsapp on my landline number.)
I tried to reproduce this but I just can't. If I'm in Wifi and go to 3G, Yappari says: Disconnected, Waiting for a Connection, Connected, Logged In.

If I go from 3G to Wifi, the same. Yappari detects when the connection is changed and behaves accordingly.

When you say "Stops working" you mean it crashes? You can send the last lines of /home/user/MyDocs/yappari.log when you change the connection to see if we can figure this out.

You can try that, or send me in a private message your /home/user/MyDocs/yappari.log

    Did you try rebooting????
Had the same thing. Shutting down the phone and restarting it did it for me!

That's funny but looks like it can't reach Whatsapp servers.

Can you try from your shell on your device: telnet bin-short.whatsapp.net 5222

Restarting the device solved the issue with the missing status bar icon (thx Kaamp)

I don't seem to have telnet installed on my N900. But a ping works fine.
I'll try to find a telnet package and then try again.

    Ok, telnet client installed.
    This is the output:
    telnet bin-short.whatsapp.net 5222
    Trying 173.192.219.147...
    and then nothing happens.

When trying the same from my notebook, i get the following output:
    telnet bin-short.whatsapp.net 5222
    Trying 50.22.213.141...
    Connected to c.whatsapp.net.
    Escape character is '^]'.

Maybe i should add that i'm currently on a conference with very poor wireless connection (and a mobile internet connection would be much too expensive here ;-) ).
Probably the strength of the wifi adapter of the n900 is just not sufficient enough to establish an adequate connection.

DerCommander it seems that you can't definitely reach the servers. But it's interesting since Yappari should timeout and let you know that, does it stay forever on Connecting or eventually it says Disconnected?

If it never reaches Disconnected state then it's a bug in the socket timeout, but anyway that doesn't solve your problem. Maybe where you are they blocked Whatsapp servers or something, who knows.
