Am I the only one who finds that anything bigger than the note is cumbersome to use? I agree that they are shiny and have a certain desirability factor (especially if you love gadgets), I did order a $99 touchpad that never came, but even on the sofa I find those 10 inchers cumbersome to use. Especially with one hand they are unusable where a laptop isn't. I don't even wanna think about it when you are standing up (less cumbersome than a laptop, but not exactly ok). Even on a desk, the laptop wins. I've got a 13" conertible hp and I find myself converting it only when I want to sketch with the wacom stylus, an even then I miss the keyboard shortcuts. On the other hand I find pocketable devices like the maemo tablets and android phablets perfect.

I fear we are nowhere near a post-pc era, tablets will go down like netbooks in a couple of years, not because they are useless, netbooks weren't useless at all, but because there is no need to upgrade. Netbooks today still come with a similar single core 1,6Ghz atom and 1gb of ram at about the same price as 3 years ago. And you can do much, much more things on a netbook than you can do on a tablet.

You look so much better when walking into a meeting with a surface in your hands instead of a laptop or even an ultrabook.

Is that reason enough to put our notes to rest. Let's see.

I would buy a good win7 tablet rather than the surface tablet.

Another interesting question is: when will you be able to run desktop environments on the mobile phone. And I'm not talking about an OS you adding by yourself but a stock solution.

That would be nice great and really kill the desktop and laptops.
