I think the subject is serious and al mobile phone, netbook, notebook & tablet producers want to know the ultimate asnwer.

4.2" for me
That will make it a little wider tan the N9, but not too big as I like to carry my N9 in my shirt pocket.

thinking of the N900 as a PC in your pocket, bigger isn't better.
