According to Wall Street Journal, Jolla is a strong player with a number of employers from Nokia's MeeGo team, including chief engineer Marc Dillon and product manager Jukka Eklund .
Clarification on that: Jukka told me he is only acting in an advisory capacity.
no ui can be better than swipe on n9. Jolla, it is time to copy, use or license it. Nokia will not sue you
i need a pure touch(no button) os with swipe to go back to homescreen. Ipod nano have this basic feature if i am not wrong.
It will be a waste if we never see swipe again.
Btw maemo6 ui concept revealed in 2009 is not too bad.
I really can't see how the patent office can allow a basic gesture like swiping as a proprietary technology because it is so basic. It seems to my logic that to allow this gesture to be owned by a corporation is like an alternate universe where someone was allowed to patent turning a page in a magazine.
On the other hand Microhard is patent trolling android manufacturers with their old lame patents because they are mobile losers so if Nokia is indeed headed into losersland with windows blows 8 then It seems to me likely that these 2 big players will just snatch all your hard work with patent trolling as soon as you become successful.
I don't want to be pessimistic...wait, that's how I'm coming across... I'm just saying beware of the sharks ok! Remember you're on a dingy.
CEO of JollaMobile was on Finnish morning tv (Huomenta Suomi) and he told that they thought Android and WP also. WP was too limited/closed and as a small player you can't lead with Android. So they want to lead with Meego. He told anything more special (Phone will be made in China where the OEMs are).
Just saw a tweet from them about 6 hours ago n they are using qneptunea client for n9. Was nice to see them use n9 not as MeeGo app dev exec using iphone .
