I have N810 with latest version OS2008. My maps application has version 2.2.6.377. Under Check for updates in the Application manager an update for map shows up with version number 2.2.6.377-1. I want to update to it, but get this error

Unable to install
Software contains updates to packages installed from a different source and is likely to harm the system. Contact software author.

This is a brand new N810 which only got the OS2008 upgrade yesterday. What could be the problem here?

i received that same message. i am assuming that after i update to 2008-50-2 then i will be able to update the maps. however not being able to update is a temporary situation and i assume the map application will be updated as well

I am getting this same error. I have updated to the latest n810 software version. I must be missing something with the wayfinder software as i have been unable to find my home address. Either i am doing something wrong or wayfinder is worthless.

Still the same error here. How do we solve this?

Same here. Dependency hell strikes again.

I was able to solve this by becoming root (I use the ssh root@localhost method), and running apt-get install map. I was thinking that I caused it myself because maybe my repository was now owned by root or something, and that I should probably fix that. Now almost all new apps have to be installed that way, not just map.

Time to reflash I think.

You can first uninstall the map application, and then install it again in order to get the new version. This workaround worked fine on my N800 with OS2008.

I had the same problem with using the application manager, installing the update is easy, open xterm, and use sudo gainroot. then apt-get upgrade map. It will also update a number of other packages.

Or go to "red pill" mode... You still get the warning but this mode allows you to choose to continue.

Having used this^ method a week or so ago me thinks the only thing that this "upgrade" contains is a patch that may close the back door that some were using to extend their free trial. In any event it is not done correctly by Wayfinder and ergo the problem.
